Simple Delicious Grits

I get lots of questions on how to make a delicious grit so I decided I would post one recipe that you can use all the time and put your own spin on it with different cheeses and flavors! I have done, cheddar grits, red pepper grits, parmesan grits, and I will be doing green chili grits very soon! They all start out the same and all you have to change is what flavors you add in at the end! I could eat these for every meal 🙂 Hope you guys enjoy!

Ingredients
– 2 cups whole milk
– 2 cups water
– 1 cup grits (I use coarse ground cornmeal)
– 1/2 cup cheese of your choice
– 1 tbsp butter
– salt and pepper to taste

Directions
1. In a large sauce pan, bring water, 1 tsp salt, and milk to a boil. Once boiling slowly whisk in cornmeal. Stir continuously for about 2 minutes until nice and creamy. Turn heat down to medium-low and cook for another 30 minutes, or until cooked through. Stirring regularly.

2. Once grits are cooked, nice and creamy and not too thick, (if they become too thick just add more water) turn off heat, stir in butter, cheese and seasoning. Enjoy!!!

Makes about 4 cups!

NOTES:
I used 1/2 cup grated paremsan grits for the shrimp and grits. 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese for short ribs, and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup chopped roasted red peppers for the parmesan chicken and grits recipe! Have fun with all sorts of flavor combos!
